New edited publication out on the Research Catalogue

While the season, and therefore the third year of the professorship Artistic Connective Practices, definitely comes to a close, at Fontys we have been looking back at the past few months as a period of an amazing range of output, including finishing the season with a total of 11 Connective Converations, the first International SAR Forum (I wrote a brief summary and reflection in a recent post), the publication of my book on method and methodology in artistic research, and a programme of socially engages artistic research residencies in communities in the West of Tilburg, in collaboration with the community centre Wij West, curated by Danae Theodoridou.

It is now a little more than one and a half years ago that we said goodbye to the 30 participants of our Connective Symposium, which took place at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg, The Netherlands, from 17-19 November 2022. At the time, I promised in a reflection an blog post on the symposium that a more elaborate publication of the symposium will be published later. Well, it appears that we have indeed managed to finish this work, in the form of an edited publicatio on the Research Catalogue. So for the ones who are still looking for some inspiration during the holidays (or afterwards), the publication with the title Artistic Connectivity Unfolding can be found here.

Artistic Connectivity Unfolding is an attempt to share the experiences during the Connective Symposium with the broader artistic research audience, and to contribute to the body of artistic research work that is socially engaged. The symposium was the first time that the professorship opened its work to the international field: We invited practitioners from all over the world to share their work and exchange about the concept of “artistic connectivity”. Thirteen participants have created a total of eleven contributions, which offers an exposition that is potentially many things: In part, it is a piece of documentation of the symposium, in part reflections on and proceedings of it. It is also an explorative contribution to our emerging and unfolding discourse of artistic connectivity, — unfinished, fluid and moving — and thus a springboard for our future work on artistic connectivity.
