Connective Conversation 15 with Kate Moore

On Tuesday 18 February, 19:30-21:30, composer Kate Moore will be the guest of our 15th Connective Conversation! Kate is an internationally acclaimed composer. Her works are performed by Asko|Schönberg, Bang on a Can, Icebreker, Slagwerk Den Haag, Ensemble Offspring, the Australian String Quartet, The Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Groot Omroepkoor, among others. She has received numerous prizes and awards, including the 2022 Gieskes-Strijbis Podiumprijs for her contribution to the performing arts. Kate holds a doctorate from the Sydney University Conservatorium of Music, a master’s from The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and an honours degree from the Australian National University, where she received the University Medal, majoring in composition and electroacoustic composition.

In this Connective Conversation, Kate will share both her compositional work and her recent projects that involve long distance walking. In her presentation, she will connect her walking project “The Ox Way” with her orchestral work “Sacred Environment”: The Ox Way is a continuation of the artistic research made in preparation for Sacred Environment. It is about connecting with the land and the story it tells through the language of music; about plein air composing where a long distance walking route is in effect an outdoor composition studio.
